What Is a Teaching Dossier?

A teaching dossier is a document that summarizes and provides evidence of an academic’s accomplishments related to teaching and learning. Teaching dossiers may be electronic or paper-based and can demonstrate both current teaching practices and growth over time.

How Can a Teaching Dossier Be Used?

A teaching dossier can:

  • support personal and professional reflection and growth related to teaching;
  • support applications for academic positions;
  • support reappointment, tenure, and promotion processes; and
  • support applications for teaching awards, grants, and other forms of recognition.
