UR University Ready
UR University Ready
UR² Fellows Program is a 3-year pilot cohort program for academic staff teaching first-year courses, focusing on enhancing the first-year students’ experience via an integrated first-year student support model. This program is part of the shift of the landscape of teaching culture at the University of Regina. It involves colleagues from different disciplines who support and mentor each other in their teaching. It emphasizes the institutional valuing of evidence-based teaching. Students will engage with instructors committed to effective lower-division teaching and learning and courses designed based on best practices.
Participants will have access to research/professional expense funds. Additional in-kind support by the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) includes one-on-one consultations, pedagogical development and peer mentorship. They will have the opportunity to participate in bespoke teaching development activities aimed at effective teaching and join in peer teaching mentorship with a subset of other cohort members. By the end of the pilot program, participants will receive a certificate that demonstrates their commitment to teaching and learning that would support them in career progress processes.
