AI Guide for Students

Overview:

The following three handouts regarding generative AI use by students can be distributed to students or included as part of a syllabus package. These handouts include:

1. “Should You Use Generative AI in Coursework?” – This flowchart highlights the recommended decision-making process for students when considering the use of generative AI in their academic coursework.
2. “Ethical Considerations for Students” – This handout highlights some of the key ethical considerations for students when using generative AI. Highlighted topics include accountability, bias, environment, labour, and privacy.
3. “How Students Can Address the Limitations of AI” – This handout discusses the key technical issues of content produced by generative AI tools and how to both acknowledge and limit the negative effect of each.
