Valuing OER in the Tenure, Promotion, and Reappointment Process: Lessons Learned

Dr. Andrew McKinney, Director of Research and Publishing for the City University of New York’s Office of Library Services, talked about the recently released volume Valuing OER in the Tenure, Promotion, and Reappointment Process and the major themes that emerged throughout the collected case studies. As the editor of the book, Dr. McKinney discussed how the book came to be, why incentivizing OER work via job security and promotion matters, and some best practices for both faculty and administrators as they try to make OER legible to those who don’t work in the field.
