CTL Teaching Awards for 2023 are open! – Applications due March 15, 2023

We are pleased to announce the 2022 CTL Teaching Awards. This year, there will be a total of five teaching awards with the inclusion of two new categories. The 2023 awards include the following:

• University of Regina President’s Award for Teaching Excellence
• University of Regina Provost’s Award for Innovation in Teaching
• University of Regina New Faculty Teaching Award of Recognition
• University of Regina Award of Excellence in Experiential Learning
• University of Regina Award of Excellence in Public Education and Outreach

The application deadline for these awards is March 15, 2023 and the award recipients will be announced in early May. Complete details are found below.

University of Regina President’s Award for Teaching Excellence:
The University of Regina President’s Award for Teaching Excellence is the premier internal teaching excellence award for the academic year. One award will be given annually to an individual who has displayed excellence in teaching and learning at the University of Regina and/or its Federated Colleges. Nominations for this award must come from the candidate’s Dean, Associate Dean, and/or Department Head; however, students, alumni, faculty members, and others are encouraged to recommend individuals who have demonstrated outstanding achievements and contributions to teaching and learning at the University of Regina and/or its Federated Colleges.

University of Regina Provost’s Award for Innovation in Teaching:

The Provost’s Award for Innovation in Teaching recognizes faculty members with excellence in pedagogical innovation. In the context of this award, pedagogical innovation may refer to a number of innovative practices, including but not limited to: the innovative use of technology; innovative approaches to pedagogy that support equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility; innovative practices for the Indigenization of curriculum and instruction; innovative assessment practices; and innovative approaches to student engagement. One award will be given annually to an individual who has displayed evidence of outstanding innovative practices in teaching and learning at the University of Regina and/or its Federated Colleges.

University of Regina New Faculty Teaching Award of Recognition:

The University of Regina New Faculty Teaching Award of Recognition recognizes significant teaching excellence, growth, and development for new faculty members within their first three years of employment. One award will be given annually to an individual who, early on in their academic career, has displayed excellence in teaching at the University of Regina and/or its Federated Colleges.

University of Regina Award of Excellence in Experiential Learning:

The University of Regina Award of Excellence in Experiential Learning recognizes outstanding achievement by those engaged in the development and facilitation of experiential learning activities, which may include (but are not limited to) co-curricular activities (e.g., internships, volunteer experiences, competitions, accelerators), work-integrated activities (e.g., co-op placements, consulting, practicums, partnered capstone projects), curriculum-integrated activities (e.g., creative performances, project-based learning, case studies, labs, studios), research-based activities (e.g., course-based research, research assistantships), and community-engaged activities. This award will be given annually to an individual who has displayed excellence in leadership and innovation with such initiatives for the benefit of undergraduate and/or graduate students at the University of Regina including its three Federated Colleges (Campion College, First Nations University of Canada, and Luther College.)

University of Regina Award of Excellence in Public Education and Outreach:

The University of Regina Award of Excellence in Public Education and Outreach recognizes outstanding achievement by academics who have made substantial and sustained contributions to the greater community through public education, engagement, and outreach. Such contributions may include, but are not limited to: actively and creatively sharing research through news media; developing and facilitating public workshops and presentations to further public knowledge and awareness; developing and sharing community-focused and/or community-driven educational materials; providing public performances for community enhancement and education; engaging with communities toward problem-seeking/solving; and/or promoting and facilitating citizen voice and empowerment.
